The form of unruly strokes

Datura blossomed from a longing to break away from the rigid rules of sans serifs that governed my previous project. After countless hours lost in the world of straight lines, I yearned for the gentle flow of curves and carefree strokes —akin to the unruly growth of plants in my garden. Drawing inspiration from uncial typography, where letters were once shaped with graceful, circular movements, I aimed to infuse Datura with a sense of natural spontaneity. Each glyph in Datura boasts its own unique structure, with some embracing wild, untamed forms. Balancing the lush intricacy of the capitals, the lowercase characters provide a solid foundation, ensuring stability and readability.  Datura emerges as the perfect typeface for projects seeking to channel a psychedelic vibe, where controlled chaos reigns supreme, much like a gentle microdose —striking a delicate balance between freedom and restraint.

Note: Datura is distributed under the name Artura in Monotype channels.
